Client Success Story
Today I want to share the client success story of my online and in-person client Mary.
Mary came to me in October for twice weekly personal training after completing physical therapy for a knee injury. She was hoping to bridge the gap between therapy exercises and full activity plus her sport of choice, cycling.
We started with an assessment of her form and strengths and weaknesses. I prescribed lots of glute strengthening, hamstring work, and some quad work as tolerated–with perfect form and correct knee alignment.
Within a few weeks Mary was feeling better, and we were able to add more exercises and progress to full barbell squats, step ups, and lunges, all without any pain or knee soreness.
Back to Cycling
Soon enough, Mary was even able to get back to cycling. All her strength work and form correction helped her get leaner, stronger, and more resilient. Now she has no knee pain at all and makes great progress on a weekly basis.
Hybrid Training
Pleased with her results and feeling more confident, Mary transitioned from working with me twice per week to just once per week, and participating in my online training, where I wrote her exercise programming for the remaining days of the week.
During our one in-person training session, Mary has her most technical compound lifts, so I am there to coach and correct.
She also has one other self-guided weight-training session as well as two self-guided cycling sessions per week.
I deliver her exercise programming to her online each week so she is ready to tackle each day as it comes.
Benefits of Hybrid Training
The beauty in this schedule is that she is free to switch days or exercise when it best suits her schedule. I give her the structure in terms of the workouts and programming, and she has freedom to complete the workouts as she sees fit.
This option works really well for exercisers with some experience, who need some help with form and want a one-one coaching experience but also desire some autonomy and scheduling flexibility for their remaining sessions.
I am so pleased for Mary and am excited to see her continued progression in the weight room and in her cycling!
