Are you a gymnast or parent of a gymnast looking for that edge? Do you coach a gymnastics team that needs help putting together a solid strength and conditioning program? Rissa now provides strength training for gymnasts to help you or your favorite gymnast reach their full potential.

Marissa has both personal experience as a level 9 competitive gymnast and the knowledge of foundational strength and conditioning programs to create the best possible training program for gymnastics success. She knows that many gymnasts and coaches are well intentioned when it comes to strength training, but many fail to put the correct pieces of the puzzle together.

Many coaches and athletes don’t focus enough on strength training or only perform gymnastics specific training exercises like rope climbs and press handstands. Performing only gymnastics specific strength training will lead to muscular imbalances and leave crucial strength and power gains on the table!

Marissa helps your gymnast fill in the gaps by training those muscle groups NOT directly trained with gymnastics specific exercises. She also helps gymnasts learn how to safely lift weights with bread-and-butter exercises like squats, deadlifts, presses and rows. These movements help gymnasts build more general strength and power that translates to better tumbling, higher vault start values, better landing mechanics and fewer ACL injuries.

Marissa also creates conditioning workouts that help gymnasts build endurance for long practices and competitive floor routines without diluting power or speed. She understands how and when to include aerobic base training, circuit training and cardio specific to floor routine training for peak performance.

Her programs will be tailored to you or your team. She will create phases for off-season, pre-season and competitive season to help you build power, strength, and endurance for gymnastics and showcase your best performances when it counts. She will also help you prevent gymnastics injuries so you can reach your full potential.

Marissa has experience working with developmental and xcel gymnasts in her private studio, but she is also willing to create online programs for gymnasts outside the area through online coaching and program design. She works with children age 12 and up, collegiate and adult age gymnasts.

Marissa will start with a consultation (either in person, by phone or on Google meet) to identify your goals, strengths and weaknesses before creating a training plan for you. She will update your plan weekly, bi weekly or monthly as you or your team progress.
